I spent half of today figuring out how to tunnel a proxy securely… using SSH(Secure SHell) Proxy. The reason why I wanted to do all this was because I understood that public wifi’s are very fishy and I would hate to browsing in a unsecured internet… 🙁
The Stuff…
What I thought of was using my Debian Home Server and Android Smartphone.
If your also wondering what things I used, well I used SSHTunnel(On Android) and a SSH server…
The Concept… Soooo….
The idea was having a secure connection that would remote me to my home internet, but also protect the data that is being sent/received by home and me since I am using a foreign/unknown connection. And supposedly if this connection was tampered/disrupted it should disconnect as I understand. After few hours solving why it kept dropping connections after a min of running, I somewhat figured out it the cause and I was fully able to get it to working in the end!
In Short Sentence, I’m able to use my home internet anywhere even when I’m not home,All I just need free internet.(And Securely use my device without any middle man spying between me and my home internet).
Final Thoughts… Um well I hope it works and it better! But no it’ll work there is documentation about this already… Soo I enjoyed the small project. 🙂 Thanks for Reading…
